Mezzo-Soprano Laura Compton is a two time Metropolitan Opera National Council district winner and regional finalist. She has performed many roles including Hansel in Hansel & Gretel, Mrs. P in Michael Nyman’s The Man who Mistook his Wife for a Hat, and Suzuki in Madama Butterfly. Ms. Compton has worked extensively with Marilyn Horne, singing the role of Dorabella at The Music Academy of the West, studying at the Academie Musicale de Villecroze in Nice, and as a performer for the series ‘The Song Continues’ at Carnegie Hall. She was the 3rd-place winner in the Meistersinger Competition in Gratz. Regionally, she performed the role of the Mother and the role of Ruth in Raylynmor Opera’s productions of Amahl and the Night Visitors and The Pirates of Penzance. Currently Laura is the music director at Old South Church, teaches voice lessons, directs a women’s a cappella group, and performs locally in the Upper Valley, where she lives with her husband and two sons, Henry and Truman.
