Jane Bearden, Violin

Jane Bearden performed as a first violinist of the Malaysian Philharmonic Orchestra for several years, working with esteemed conductors including Lorin Maazel, Sir Neville Marriner, Eiji Oue, Charles Dutoit and Pierre Boulez. After growing up in Rochester, NY, and studying with George Taylor (Eastman School of Music), she completed her Bachelor’s and Master’s degrees in Violin Performance under Sheryl Staples (Principal Associate Concertmaster, New York Philharmonic) at the Manhattan School of Music. She then joined New World Symphony under Michael Tilson Thomas. Besides orchestral playing, she has also performed as soloist and chamber musician, on both violin and viola. Most recently, she has been performing with Vermont Symphony Orchestra and other ensembles in Burlington, VT and Hanover, NH, while devoting more time to teaching. She is eager to help students find their path to a professional musical career, or simply to develop a satisfying creative outlet in their lives.
