Check out this Podcast created by Muphen Whitney with Daniel Weiser talking about this wonderful program of women composers:

Join us for this special “Mother’s Day” weekend concert featuring some beautiful, powerful, and sadly neglected music for cello and piano written by French women comp0sers, including Melanie Bonis, Luisa LeBeau, and Cecile Chaminade.  Bonis and LeBeau both wrote intricate, dramatic, and harmonically fascinating Sonatas while Chaminade wrote some of the best Salon music of the 19th century with incredible melodies and long lyrical lines.  This is music that definitely deserves to be heard far more often and this seemed like the perfect weekend to honor these “Musical Mothers.”  Cellist Cecylia Barczyk has performed around the world and has also recorded a CD with all of these pieces.  We hope you can join us for one of the three concerts in the area.
