Great Broadway hits for violin and piano
Music by Gershwin, Arlen, Rodgers, Bernstein, & more

August 13-15, 2021

We are very excited to finally begin LIVE CONCERTS again after this long pandemic.  Please join Classicopia for this very fun program exploring the history of Broadway songs from the 1920s to the 1980s.  Artistic Director and pianist Daniel Weiser will be joined by violinist Timothy Schwarz to perform some fantastic arrangements of your favorite Broadway songs by Gershwin, Rodgers, Sondheim, Bernstein, Webber and more including “Over the Rainbow,” “Send in the Clowns,” “Some Enchanted Evening,” and “Memory”.   Schwarz and Weiser were the 1996 U.S. Artistic Ambassadors which resulted in a two month tour of the Middle East and Southeast Asia, where they performed great American music in eleven different countries.  Formerly known as the Upper Valley Duo, they always bring incredible passion, virtuosity, and excitement to all their programs.

Check out a video of the Duo performing Heifitz’s arrangement of tunes from Gershwin’s Porgy and Bess:

Fairlee Town Hall
75 Town Common Rd, Fairlee, VT 05045

We are thrilled to continue our collaboration with Fairlee Community Arts in the wonderful new (air conditioned and accessible) venue at Fairlee Town Hall with a fantastic Chickering grand piano donated by Deecie Denison.  This concert, which is co-sponsored with a generous gift from Bruce and Anne Taylor,  will be the first annual “Bev Hodges Memorial Concert” to honor this amazing woman who helped run Farmer Hodge’s Dairy Farm in Fairlee for so many years before her death earlier this year.  I still remember her letting my young twin girls ride on a tractor when they visited the farm many years ago and she would always ask about them every summer!  Her grandson, Mark Frazee, also studied piano with me and has gone into a career in music therapy.   Tickets for this program are $20 for adults and free for all children under 18.  To buy seats in advance, please click on the following link and hit the green “Tickets” button.
