“BEETHOVEN’S VIOLIN”

A Three-Part Series of Beethoven's Violin Sonatas

February 13-27

In celebration of Beethoven’s recent 250th birthday, these programs will feature eight of his ten Sonatas for Violin and Piano, written throughout his life.  Violinist Tim Schwarz joins pianist and Artistic Director Daniel Weiser for these Livestream concerts broadcast from Dan’s living room in Baltimore surrounded by his late father’s beautiful paintings.  Tim and Dan met at Peabody in the early 1990s and have been performing together ever since.  They were the 1996 U.S. Artistic Ambassadors of Music, which resulted in a two month, eleven country tour of the Middle East and Southeast Asia, including Syria, Egypt, Pakistan, Sri Lanka, Thailand, and Tunisia.

Over three straight Saturday evenings in February, they will take you on a journey into the mind of perhaps the greatest composer.  Narrated with fascinating stories by Dr. Weiser, the two men will highlight the passion, vitality, expressiveness, sorrow, joy, and depth in these incredible Sonatas for Violin and Piano.

Part One (Feb. 13 at 7:30) features Sonatas no, 1, 4, and 5 (the famous “Spring” Sonata) from 1798-1801

Part Two (Feb. 20 at 7:30) features Sonatas no. 6-8 , all from 1802

Part Three (Feb. 27 at 7:30) features Sonata no. 9 (the great “Kreutzer” Sonata) from 1805 and Sonata no. 10 from 1812
